1. Overview

Sift helps you turn long reads into clear audio briefs. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

• User Content you share: URLs, pasted text, images, and PDFs you explicitly send to Sift (for example via the iOS Share Extension) so we can generate a summary and audio.
• Generated content: The summary script and audio produced for your items.
• Account identifiers: An app-specific user identifier. If you sign in with Apple, we store Apple’s user identifier and the email address only if you choose to share it.
• Purchases: Subscription status and purchase-related metadata required to unlock Pro features.
• Usage & diagnostics (limited): Basic usage events and diagnostics to improve stability and performance.

3. How We Use Information

• To fetch and transform shared content into a listenable audio brief.
• To sync your library across devices when you sign in.
• To deliver push notifications (only if you grant permission).
• To understand product usage and improve reliability.

4. AI Processing

To generate summaries and audio, Sift uses third-party AI inference services (Large Language Models and text-to-speech).

• We send only the content necessary to provide the feature you requested.
• We do not use your content to train our own models.
• We do not store full original article content; we store the original URL plus the generated summary and audio so you can listen later.

Note: Third-party processing is governed by the providers’ terms. See Section 6 for our service providers.

5. Data Storage & Security

We store application data on Cloudflare (D1 Database & R2 Storage). We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit.

6. Service Providers

We may share data with vendors that help us operate the service. These vendors process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services.

• Cloudflare (hosting, database, storage, queues)
• OpenAI (AI inference for summary and TTS generation)
• PostHog (product analytics)
• RevenueCat (subscription management)
• Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, push notifications)

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with service providers as described above, or when required by law.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

• You can delete items inside the app, which removes associated generated content from our servers.
• You can request full account deletion via the in-app “Delete Account” option (if available) or by contacting support.
